The study’s findings show that salivary mucin and total protein levels may be valuable predictors of the severity and development of chronic periodontitis and gingivitis, and after NSPT, there is a positive trend toward healthier levels of salivary mucin and total protein in Groups II and III, suggesting that these biomarkers may reflect treatment response and improvement in periodontal health.
