The results from the EXPEDITION trial were promising vis a vis the cardioprotective effects of cariporide in that the incidence of death or MI was reduced from 20.3% in the placebo group to 16.6% in patients treated with cariporide as was the incidence of MI alone (18.9% in the placebo group vs 14.4% in cariporide-treated patients), both highly significant reductions.
