During the initial months of the pandemic, the Katz et al study 29 observed an overall trend of decreased reporting of suspected child abuse by school personnel (70.3%) and child protection workers (2.1%), and indicated that these groups could not effectively identify or report instances of abuse due to lockdowns or restrictions.
