Innovative strategies and technologies to engage and include people with dementia in their community activities as we understand from our experiences of the COVID-19 pandemic are also highly significant to promote dementia friendly communities for social inclusion ( 113 ). 4.2 Expanding the “risk reduction” in “early prevention” There is abundant evidence that noncommunicable diseases (such as diabetes mellitus and midlife hypertension) and lifestyle-related risk factors (such as physical inactivity, obesity, unbalanced diets, tobacco use, harmful use of alcohol) play a role in dementia ( 115 , 116 ).
