For the secondary outcomes, there were significant reductions in fasting plasma glucose (−0.22 mmol/L; 95% CI: −0.39 to −0.04; p = 0.01; I 2 = 94%) and fasting insulin levels (−3.36 μIU/mL; 95% CI: −6.31 to −0.41; p = 0.03; I 2 = 97%), while a borderline significance in HOMA‐IR scores (−0.56; 95% CI: −1.12 to −0.01; p = 0.05; I 2 = 96%) but no significant differences in 2‐h OGTT or HbA 1 c measures.
