borderline significantp = 0.050
The effect of loneliness on physical activity was borderline significant in the actively isolated group ( p = 0.050).
The effect of loneliness on physical activity was borderline significant in the actively isolated group ( p = 0.050).
Having more physically active friends was strongly correlated with higher levels of physical activity in both the total and non-isolated groups (total: OR = 1.30; non-isolated: OR = 1.31; both p < 0.001), with a trend towards significance in the isolated group (OR = 1.22; p = 0.066).
Although loneliness was not a significant predictor of physical activity in this study, the borderline significance in the actively isolated group suggests that the emotional experience of loneliness may still play a role in health behaviors.
