In our study, there was a very high and significant positive association of dietary fiber intake with vegetable and fruit intake (but no association with cereals intake, since the majority of the subjects consumed only refined grain products), and a small but still significant positive association with meat, nuts/seeds, and fats/oils intakes, as well as with total protein and fat intake and vitamin D status, and a small but significant negative association with intake of sugars, sweets, and beverages.
