Notably, claudins, which were largely downregulated in the intestine where they are commonly expressed within tight junctions, were upregulated in liver tissue after 56 days of spaceflight (Supplementary Data 5 ), including highly significant and high relative abundance increases in CLDN1 and CLDN2 .
