The first marginally significant signal on the X chromosome (AGAP000561) is located at ca. 9.95 Mb and encodes for a Piwi-interacting RNA (piRNA) previously identified as part of “reproductive and development” cluster involved in germline development and maintenance, spermatid development, oogenesis, and embryogenesis of An. gambiae ( George et al. 2015 ).
