Hematoxylin & eosin (H&E) with histopathological scoring by M.P.R., renal pathologist, in a blinded fashion showed an increase in interstitial inflammation in both diabetic groups as compared to their respective non-diabetic controls, with an increasing trend (non-statistically significant) in the diabetic NPHS2-rtTA mice as compared to the diabetic KLF6 PODTA mice (Supplementary Fig. 2a , Supplementary Table 2 ).
