Study of both executive and language functions in MND patients is important as “predominantly dysexecutive” and “predominantly linguistic” cognitive profiles have been proposed.[ 3 ] Several studies have shown errors in writing sentences to dictation, spelling, sentence construction, grammar, and object naming errors in primary lateral sclerosis patients.[ 4 ] Patients with pure lower motor involvement performed better in phrase construction tasks compared to pure upper motor-involved patients.[ 5 ] Marginally significant difference between progressive muscular atrophy patients and healthy controls was found in naming tests.[ 6 ] Verbal fluency tasks demonstrated a link between executive functions and language.
