In the spectrum of explored markers at the admission of patients with NSTEMI, an observed trend was the increased expression of matrix metalloproteinases (MMP) in the ECM, along with elevated markers for the degradation of fibrillar collagen type I (TIMP-1) and collagen type III (TIMP-3) by 49–56%.
