The highly significant RDA grouped the macroinvertebrate communities according to the direction of the arrows (Fig. 5 ): (1) macroinvertebrate assemblages that preferred well-oxygenated water (DO), (2) communities that occurred at sites with high conductivity (EC), (3) communities that tolerated high nutrient concentrations (TNb), or (4) higher concentrations of mining by-products (PC2), and finally (5) communities at higher altitudes.
