This reason may explain the ceiling effect that was found in our study, particularly in the mid‐to‐late stages of the Aβ‐PET grading of GFAP, with plasma GFAP at the Aβ stages forming a phenomenon of increasing and then decreasing, coinciding with a recent study in which GFAP will not increase or even show a decreasing trend in the late Aβ‐PET stage. 15 In addition, when astrocytes disintegrate, they release their accumulated Aβ, thereby actively contributing to the overall accumulation of Aβ plaques. 39 , 40 , 41 According to the voxel‐level correlation results, from stage A1 onward, PET images showed significant positive correlations with GFAP, NfL, and p‐tau181 biomarkers, and significant negative correlations with Aβ42/Aβ40.
