Low-grade appendiceal mucinous neoplasms are associated with the presence of acellular mucin on the surface of the appendix, which is highly significant as it represents a major risk factor for the phenomenon known as pseudomyxoma peritonei, increasing the likelihood of abdominal recurrence [ 13 ].
