Contrariwise, when the effect of CST-IT was evaluated in a sample of VaD patients only ( Piras et al., 2017 ), general cognitive functioning improved at program completion (with a trend toward significance for working memory abilities), but no positive impact was observable on mood and behavior, suggesting that different mechanisms of change are at play when patients with a prominent vascular contribution to dementia are considered.
