Noteworthy, we found that STAT3 plays an extremely significant role in the formation of glial scar, polarization, and axon formation of astrocytes, and acts as a pivotal triggering factor to control astrocytes, which was also confirmed in the study of STAT3 ablation after SCI ( Okada et al., 2006 ), and therefore we believe that STAT3 is likely to become a critical therapeutic targeting molecule.
