In older analyses, an increasing trend in omission of RT in Asian and Pacific Islander patients undergoing lumpectomy was noted. 40 Higher rates of mastectomy have also been previously noted in the Asian and Pacific Islander population compared with non-Hispanic White women, 41 , 42 , 43 possibly driven by factors such as the belief that it is safer 44 and simpler 45 ; in addition, eligibility for breast conservation is contingent on breast-to-tumor ratio, and smaller breast size in some Asian and Pacific Islander women may be a factor.
