The following criteria were used to assess for acceptable measurement and structural path model fit to the data: (1) chi‐square ( χ 2 ) analysis with a χ 2 / df ratio < 3 and p > 0.05; (2) root mean square error of approximation (RMSEA) of ≤0.08; (3) confirmatory fit index (CFI) of ≥0.95; and (4) standardized root‐mean‐square residual (SRMR) of ≤0.08 50 ; the χ 2 p > 0.05 requirement was relaxed for this study because this value is sensitive to sample size and may be significant even though the model demonstrates good fit according to the other indices. 47 A parsimonious structural path model was developed by trimming demographic control variables with small standardized coefficients (<0.10) and large p values ( p > 0.20).
