This is supported by our finding that SMOC1 accumulation in brain strongly correlated to plaque load, irrespective of disease stage, which is consistent with the highly significant correlation between SMOC1 and Aβ levels reported in brain tissue, CSF and plasma in AD [ 9 , 36 , 48 – 50 , 63 , 96 , 98 , 102 , 115 , 117 , 127 ].
