While the presence of Bryobroma gymnomitrii in Britain and Ireland is not unusual given the known European distribution of the fungus so far, the Alaskan records are highly significant and suggest that B. gymnomitrii has a much wider distribution, coinciding with that of its known hosts, Gymnomitrion concinnatum and G. corallioides (see Figure 2 ).
