21 Another prospective study of 3366 community residents aged 65 years or older in the United States found that sarcopenic obesity when defined by skeletal muscle mass and waist circumference was not associated with risk of CVD but exhibited a marginally significant association with CVD risk when defined by handgrip strength and waist circumference. 22 Our study included a wide age range of participants, including middle‐aged and older adults, and provided new evidence of the heterogenous consequences of dynapenic and sarcopenic obesity.
