Given that the HAS generally exhibited a decreasing trend across the 3 waves of measurements and that our focus was on the population average (across the 8 groups of physical activity engagement patterns), rather than individual differences in HAS changes, we used a generalized estimating equations (GEE) model instead of a mixed-effects model to examine the differences among physical activity engagement patterns associated with the decreasing trend (slope) of the HAS.
