Finally, when assessing how the source of inoculants affected microbial‐mediated tolerance, we found that laboratory stock (i.e., isolates maintained within laboratories, repositories, or other institutions) supported marginally significant biomass improvements under herbivory compared to commercial formulae or field isolates ( Q M = 6.70, p = 0.04; lab stock: d = 2.62 [1.26; 3.98]).
