1 , 5 , 14 However, pathologic supraventricular and ventricular rhythm disturbances are also increasing in prevalence, and an increasing trend in maternal mortality related to cardiac arrhythmias has been reported in the United States. 1 , 5 Atrial fibrillation and other SVTs are the most frequently reported arrhythmias in pregnancy. 4 Other tachyarrhythmias, such as ventricular tachycardia or premature ventricular contractions, are rare during pregnancy but may also occur. 5 It is therefore important to develop appropriate therapeutic strategies that allow for the effective treatment of arrhythmias, while limiting the risk of maternal and fetal complications.
