When changing from triaxial compression with an osmotic pressure of 0 MPa to triaxial cyclic stress and relaxation with an osmotic pressure of 4 MPa at the same confining pressure, only when the confining pressure is 15 MPa does the peak strength of the rock sample increase; at confining pressures of 5 MPa and 10 MPa, the peak strength of the rock sample decreases, and then with an increase in osmotic pressure, all three confining pressures show a decreasing trend in peak strength; (4) In a triaxial cyclic stress and relaxation environment, an increase in osmotic pressure correlates with a progressive reduction in the number of stress and relaxation cycles that the rock sample can endure prior to failure.
