We identified an elevated risk of emergency department visits for SMI during acute heatwave exposure periods (lag0-lag3) (RR SMI : 1.13, CI: 1.08–1.19, p : <0.0001) and marginally significant risk for prolonged heatwave exposure periods (lag0-lag7) (RR SMI : 1.03, CI: 1.00–1.06, p : 0.073) ( Fig. 2 ).
