Regarding the evident lack of discriminatory power of elevated peak transaminase levels according to the conventional EAD definition in our high-risk donor-recipient-pool, we chose to evaluate a higher cut-off of > 4000 IU/l, which showed a highly significant association with inferior graft survival and OS and highlighted the importance of elevating the cut-off for transaminase levels in a high morbidity recipient population in combination with a high-risk donor pool.
