The highly significant reduced model (without elevation) had acceptably stable beta estimates for PDIR, shade, and their interaction providing a model that can be reliably used for mechanistic inference ( F 3,88 = 23.5, P < 0.0001, R 2 = 0.444, Figure 7 ).
