Conclusions In patients with acute ischaemic stroke due to LVO without evidence of AF and intracardiac thrombi and no competing aetiologies, cardiac CT imaging findings of left ventricular dilatation, visible interatrial shunting, aortic and mitral valve implants, post-ischaemic myocardial scarring and atheroma of the aortic arch > grade II may be significant risk factors for a cardioembolic stroke aetiology.
