Interestingly, an increasing trend of canine ehrlichiosis has been documented in Texas [ 9 , 48 ], apparently driven more by the seroprevalence of Ehrlichia canis transmitted by Rhipicephalus sanguineus , than E. chaffeensis and E. ewingii, which are transmitted mainly by A. americanum [ 49 , 50 ], but are also detected in A. mixtum , A. maculatum , and A. inornatum [ 7 , 8 ].
