These results were summarized in a meta-analysis by Upala et al ( 5 ), in which hyponatremia was found to be associated with osteoporosis, especially at the total hip; conversely, the authors of this meta-analysis did not find a fully significant relationship with BMD at the femoral neck and lumbar spine, for which only a nonsignificant trend was observed.
