Either in Argentina (DID 0.16) and Peru (0.35 DID), an increasing trend along the years (+8.4% and +13.6% respectively) was observed, while at the same time, it existed a reduction in consumption of another drug like cefazoline during the same period (Argentina, −3.1%; Peru, −20.5%) pattern that might be explain by the irrational use of ceftriaxone in surgery prophylaxis or an excessive ambulatory use.
