Co-culture of both 1-month and 6-month organoids with live tachyzoites had a highly significant effect on the level of tachyzoite transcripts ( p ≤ 0.028), with multiple comparison testing showing significant increases in the expression of SAG1 ( p ≤ 0.002), GRA6 ( p ≤ 0.009), and ROP16 ( p ≤ 0.008) genes for all timepoints when comparisons were possible, compared to organoids co-cultured with heat-killed tachyzoites ( Figure 3 A).
