When the PRG levels were measured over time in sera of pregnant marmosets, it was found that there was a large individual variation in the PRG concentration, with some marmosets showing a transient increase in the serum levels immediately after ZIKV infection, but in all cases, PRG levels showed a decreasing trend before miscarriage or preterm birth and decreased to approximately 100 ng/mL or less immediately after miscarriage and preterm birth ( Fig. 1B ).
