We did observe a slight trend towards more IDs in patients who had 8 or more segments fused, which aligns with current literature on lumbar decompressions and/or fusion, where is shown that multilevel surgery represents a risk factor. 21 , 22 , 24 In line, patients experiencing an ID tended to have more PLIFs performed in addition to the TLIF during the same procedure ( Table 2 ).
