The evolution during waves was similar to the CRP pattern in the whole study group (increase from the Wuhan to Alpha wave and then the Delta wave and a decrease in the Omicron wave), while the subgroup of severe/critical patients had a descending trend from the Wuhan to Alpha wave and then the Delta (but not significantly statistic) and Omicron waves (p < 0.001), and the subgroup of patients who died had an increasing trend from the Wuhan to Alpha wave and then a decreasing trend to the Omicron wave, but the difference was not statistically significant.
