In a retrospective observational study examining the temporal association between carbapenem usage and antimicrobial resistance among major Gram-negative bacteria, researchers observed that carbapenem consumption, as well as resistance to imipenem in Acinetobacter baumannii and Pseudomonas aeruginosa , showed an increasing trend over the past five years.
