While the unadjusted association between visceral adiposity area and presence RAC was highly significant in model 1, this relationship was largely attenuated by the addition of sociodemographic characteristics and CVD risk factors in model 2 and suggests that these variables mediate the association between visceral adiposity and atherosclerosis of the renal arteries.
