Given that it is frequently safe to assume that the biological quantities of interest are not influencing climate, a highly significant spatial wavelet coherence suggests that the climatic variable is driving the oscillations of, and hence transmitting synchrony to, the biological time series (Sheppard et al. 2016 ).
