DISCUSSION TF is an under-reported entity that presents as perifollicular erythema and pustules on the scalp in areas where hairstyles produce traction on the hair shaft.[ 1 ] Extent of pulling and the duration of traction increase the risk of traction alopecia (TA).[ 2 ] There is an increasing trend among young people for hairstyles such as braids and ponytails which cause prolonged traction to hair.
