When compared to autistic participants who experienced a Criterion A trauma but did not have clinically significant symptoms of PTSD ( n = 29), autistic participants who experienced clinically significant symptoms in the absence of a Criterion A trauma reported receiving significantly less emotional and instrumental social support (see Table 7 ); there were also marginally significant differences in understanding relationships and insistence on sameness between the two groups (with moderate effect sizes). 6 Discussion The findings of this study provide novel insights into autistic young adults' understanding and experience of stress and trauma.
