On the other hand, Chao1 values were relatively high for the bacteria and showed extremely significant differences in the composition of the communities (e.g., Hodkinson et al. 2012 ; Bates et al. 2011 ; Cardinale et al. 2006 ) suggesting that a considerable proportion of the lichen‐associated bacteria are specific to the lichen species.
