This is lower compared with a previous study describing RSV disease in infants admitted to the PICU in the Netherlands, which found that 71.8% of infants required IMV and showed a decreasing trend between 2003 and 2016. 5 Global research describing the frequency of IMV in PICU-admitted infants with bronchiolitis report a great variety from 11% to 90%. 25 – 27 This variety potentially reflects differences in the standard of practice, quality, resources and settings of PICUs globally.
