The highest tercile (above 116 mg/dL, p < 0.001), as well as glucose above 200 mg/dL ( p = 0.004), remained highly significant after correcting for age and heart rate (both do not correlate well with glucose levels; R heart_rate = 0.17, R age = 0.28).
