The prevalence of MetS was 7.3% and also showed an increasing trend with age. 47 A study by Raczkiewicz et al in intellectually active women aged 44–66 years showed that the prevalence of MetS and its criteria depended on BMI, body fat accumulation and physical inactivity, but not on age. 48 These findings highlight the need for early, targeted weight management interventions and promotion of healthy behaviours, particularly among younger women, to effectively reduce metabolic risk. 2.
