53 , 54 In direct comparison with balloon aortic valvuloplasty, TAVR shows a nonsignificant trend toward benefit in mortality rates, with less postprocedural MI and increased pacemaker implantation and bleeding/vascular events. 55 Given the mortality benefit, recent consensus documents suggest TAVR as the “go‐to” option in suitable patients, while balloon aortic valvuloplasty remains an alternative wherever TAVR is not available. 56 Similar indications for mitral TEER, though, do not exist, as the same consensus indicated TEER over surgery only in patients with prohibitive surgical risk.
