Finally, the study that incorporated both perceived and objective measures indicated an unexpected trend where neighborhood violent crime was associated with a lower risk of elevated blood pressure (prevalence ratio, 0.97 [95% CI, 0.92–1.02) and neighborhood safety with a higher risk of elevated blood pressure (prevalence ratio, 1.02 [95% CI, 0.96–1.08). 46 However, the associations were not statistically significant.
