Accordingly, the population in the Middle Eastern region, where obesity prevalence is high with insulin resistance and physical inactivity, demonstrated an increasing trend of NAFLD prevalence and, thus, the necessity for further research in the epidemiological determinants.[ 3 ] NAFLD shows a strong association with metabolic risk determinants, particularly elevated visceral fat content, insulin resistance, dyslipidemia, and hypertension.
