Age and sex distribution profiles observed in our study (characterised by a female/male ratio of 3.2, a first peak at 50–54 years in women and an increasing trend from 75 years onwards for both sexes) were similar to those reported for Catalonia ( 9 ), but only partially similar to Korea ( 10 ), where the same female predominance was observed but with decreasing values after 70–75 years.
